Understanding popular feminist education
In the concept of popular feminist education, the mode of education facilitates a practice of action and reflection with a view towards challenging systems of power, privilege, subjugation and oppression.
In feminist education, the participants collectively achieve critical consciousness and from this awareness act to challenge unjust uses of power that affect their social realities.

In it, education focuses on class oppression to the exclusion of the dynamics of gender and race in ways that reinforces patriarchal systems and ways of knowing.

The practitioners focus their analysis and practice on gender rights. They link social justice issues more broadly to the whole person, in their body, mind, spirit and emotion.

The practices of feminist education incorporate the whole person through movement, song and theatre. These embodied learning practices may be seen as integral to feminist praxis, which honours ways of knowing beyond the cognitive in order to bring about social change and effective learning.

The practitioners of feminist education orient themselves towards embodied activities and transform the individual to enact social change through popular theatre, approach social change at the collective level, through group analysis and action.
