Pehredaar Piya Ki: 'We are not going to change anything', say makers
After all that uproar going on since past few days about the much talked about show "Pehredaar Piya Ki" there is still more coming on its way. The show has been receiving hard criticism from all corners because of its frivolous storyline.

There has been an online petition going on which demands an immediate action against the writer and director of the show but reports suggest that the writer and producer of the show Shashi and Sumeet  Mittal have refused to make any alterations in the plot or storyline.

The show has regressive content showing a marriage between a 9-year-old boy and an 18-year-old girl. It also depicts undesirable closeness amongst the two in first night scenes and honeymoon.

Hindi TV shows in recent times have digressed from the real world with their content and characterisation. The characters are mostly sketched with least of realistic view, they are mostly make belief identities who are either bursting with an extra dose of righteousness or brimming with apparent evil and sin.  Aren't we all mortals with vices and virtues?

And then, there are these saas-bahu TV soaps which question our beliefs about the real social system prevailing in India. We are living in the 21st century but the plots and narratives are so much doused in primitive settings that one tends to lose track. Regressive to the core are the standards of Hindi TV serials. Some of the shows are in deplorable state, giving a hard knock to the intelligent mind. Pehredaar Piya Ki exemplifies these standards.

As per the latest reports, the producer of the show clarified that the show would not make any changes. Shashi Mittal said, "I don't think I have shown anything wrong or I am promoting anything that shouldn't be done so there is no question of making any changes. As a writer, sometimes we do get tempted to show attraction between leads, but I haven't done anything like. We are not going to change anything."

The hue and cry continues but as audience, are we ready to take this distorted content in the name of daily soaps that is the question?
