Old age solutions: Helpful but untimely updated website
The website has five major sections: recreation and entertainment, health, assisted devices, Design and Environment and facilities. It is available in English, Hindi and Tamil. While the Tamil fonts are not user friendly, the content is beneficial.

OLD AGE Solutions is website promoted by the ministry of Science and Technology and developed by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. The website begun in December 2008 and is a portal for providing technology solutions for the elderly.

The website has five major sections: recreation and entertainment, health, assistive devices, Design and Environment and facilities. It is available in English, Hindi and Tamil. While the Tamil fonts are not user friendly, the content remains highly beneficial.

There is a resources section, which provides information on contributors, consultants in the area of assistive and enabling devices, consultants in S and T interventions for elders etc. A separate section attempts to offer news items relating to seniors from news papers. There is also a blog attached to the site.

However, the website's content remains wanting. In the blog, there have been only 14 posts by three contributors in a year and only seven followers. This blog can be put to a better use by inviting more contributors from the public.

The section on assistive devices is extremely useful and informative. Similarly, the availability of the entire old age directory of Help Age 2009 as a searchable pdf file is invaluable. The sitemap, graphics, colour and navigation in website design in particular are all appreciable.

The website, as mentioned above, seems to be suffer from a lack of routine monitoring by the people, who run it. The suggestions sent via the suggestions option, are never taken into consideration. Even a reply, to the person who has taken the time to post one, is not given.

There is a single page guideline for contributors and it does not seem to be attracting contributions. Moreover, much of the information on the page is that which was uploaded at the time when the website was launched. There are no new updations.
