IPL 2016 starts April 9: Here are 9 things that will surely happen after IPL 9 ends
Our nation is currently under the grip of cricket fever with India hosting the ICC World Twenty20 in which the Indian team is making steady progress. No sooner than this fever ends on April 3, another more infectious cricket fever called IPL starts on April 9, to ensure that Indian cricket fans remain glued to their idiot boxes.

From April 9 till May 29, an average urban Indian will remain busy watching IPL matches. But what follows after the IPL season is even worse. Withdrawal symptoms of this disease are very serious and so are the side effects. Anxiety, boredom and depression are a few of the symptoms.

During the IPL season people hardly care about movies, news stories, current affairs or even what's happening in the neighbourhood, but as soon as the IPL ends, reality strikes back. Here are 9 things which are bound to happen after IPL 2016 ends.

Sony Max will start airing Sooryavansham again

There are films and then there is Sooryavansham. The 1999 Bollywood film starring Amitabh Bachchan in a double role has made some kind of a record or sorts of the number of times it has aired on the channel Sony Max.

For the last 17 years the governments changed, people changed, even the channel's name changed from Set Max to Sony Max, but alas! The channel still airs Sooryavansham, and the movie is almost certain to make another comeback after IPL 9.

Salman Khan's upcoming movie Sultan will start trending and so will the blackbuck

People have almost forgotten about Salman Khan, his hit-and-run case, his mindless tweets, and the  blackbuck he killed (it is rumoured that the police have already recovered the blackbuck's suicide note after Salman's acquittal in the hit-and-run case). And not to forget his upcoming blockbuster Sultan.

Ranbir Katrina breakup will once again become a hot topic of discussion

Rahul Gandhi will resume his trips to JNU or start hunting for newer campuses, after all everyone does need a break, so what better occasion than IPL?

Arvind Kejriwal will resume attacking PM Narendra Modi

It may be through tweets or through media interviews, but Mr Kejriwal is expected to resume his favourite hobby of attacking PM Modi as soon as IPL season 9 ends. Besides, right now he is reportedly under depression as his favourite cough syrup was recently banned. He is currently consulting his lawyers on the legal options for suing the government over the ban.

Movies will start doing well and houseful boards will be seen outside theaters only after IPL ends

Not to forget the JNU poster boy Kanhaiya Kumar

Since the night of February 9, mainstream media has been making hay covering interviews and stories on Kanhaiya Kumar, the JNU poster boy. Even he would remain at the background during the IPL season, only to make a strong comeback post May 29.

Sales of iPhone SE will surge after IPL ends

Apple launched the new iPhone SE with much hype and has announced its arrival in India on April 8. But, IPL begins on April 9, looks like Tim Cook got it terribly wrong this time. Sales of the new iPhone are expected to rise only after the IPL fever subsides. Who has the time to go shopping during IPL?

Upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal and Assam which take place between April and May will attract less attention and will hardly be debated upon; we are a cricket first nation, aren't we?
